about

There are so many things at play in life guiding us along our path. I often find myself basking in the sun, enjoying the warmth, thankful for its energy. In the summer of 2017 I lived in Costa Rica. I spent the summer in the jungles, studying yoga and connecting deeper with Myself and the earth. It was one of my first experiences being away from home for a long period of time. There was a lot of solitude. Many days were spent wading through the river, hiking around the jungle and wandering on spacious beaches. The suns warmth was always there for me. Most definitely a very transformational time. My guitar did not accompany me on the Costa Rican journey. This song was the first song I wrote when I finally got to my guitar inspired by that homeward journey both physically and spiritually. On my way back home I stopped in South Carolina to see the 2017 full solar eclipse. My friends picked me up and we were to have a little vacation at my family beach house down south before I had to return to school and regular life. I woke up that morning of the eclipse on a farm to pigs, cows, goats and horses staring at me intently. While crickets and insects sounded and trash, tires and junk surrounded me. Then the solar eclipse came and that was a natural phenomena. It was odd to be back in america around so many people after being in the jungle all summer. To come back to watch the sun disappear on a beach with thousands of people looking to the sky as it turned magnetic with hues of purple, green, reds and blue in a majestic fashion. It was absolutely bizarre to me. Life felt like it had shifted. To some degree I felt great peace and connection with myself and life moving forward.

lyrics

On my way back home
I am on my way back home
on my way back home
I stopped to see the sun
The sun said don't you know
that home is where ever you roam

Two months spent on the road
on a journey in finding my soul
taking a break to reflect in this light
I find some rest
you cant live in the past anymore

Lovers come and they go
but that river continues to flow
caught in times sweet spell
nothings for certain
cant you tell?

Once it ends it begins
once it ends it begins
once it ends it begins
on wards and upwards my friends
take what you want and leave the rest behind
what you are looking for you may never find
but that doesn't mean don't try

on your way back home
we are on our way back home
on my way back home
I stopped to see the sun
the sun said don't you know
that home is wherever you may roam
